There are 70 million Americans who do not have a college degree but have acquired in-demand skills that would make them attractive employees. While these individuals have the talent, drive, and desire to contribute, they often lack access to the type of personalized tools that can help them find job opportunities that fit their unique capabilities.
The SkillUp Coalition is stepping in to fill that void.
A leading career services platform that connects job seekers without a college degree to high-quality training and job opportunities, the SkillUp Coalition recently launched SkillUp AI, a human-centered AI agent designed to provide users with personalized career navigation tailored to their unique skills and employment goals. The tool is in beta to collect user inputs as part of a comprehensive evaluation with MDRC, a nonprofit organization that evaluates poverty reduction programs to ensure they meet their goals.
SkillUp AI is expected to be fully integrated into the SkillUp platform this spring.
“SkillUp AI offers a transformative approach to career exploration that will accelerate the economic mobility of non-degree workers,” said Charles Koch Foundation (CKF) Director of Educational Partnerships Brennan Brown. “This tool offers an example of how solution providers, employers, technologists, and workers themselves can come together to create bottom up solutions that will transform the future of job seeking and empower more people to discover their purpose.”
SkillUp AI was made possible with support from CKF, the Gates Foundation, Cognizant, the Schultz Family Foundation, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, and others. CKF has supported the SkillUp Coalition since its founding in July 2020. In partnership with more than 150 organizations around the country, over the last five years SkillUp has connected more than 3.5 million workers to career, training, and job support nationwide.
