While the rapid deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) has caused anxiety for workers and employers, there is little doubt the technology will make it easier to bring applicants together with the organizations that want to hire them.
Per Scholas’ partnership with AdeptID is one example that demonstrates how AI can match workers with the types of jobs they want. An education and training provider that connects its graduates to employment opportunities, Per Scholas is using AdeptID ‘s matching engine to help its Tech Talent Solutions team review thousands of alumni resumes to find the best candidates for employer job openings. Previously, this process was time-consuming, an obstacle that diminished applicants’ ability to get noticed in a fast-paced hiring environment and hindered Per Scholas’ ability to scale.
The results are remarkable. Matching time has fallen from a week to two days and enhanced efficiency has allowed the Per Scholas team to focus on personalized career support and improve job placement rates.
Per Scholas, a Charles Koch Foundation (CKF) partner, also has teamed up with Salesforce to use AI to transform the resume-building process. Much of this process — information gathering and formatting, in particular — is time-consuming and tedious. Per Scholas ResumeBoost, powered by Salesforce AI, generates an initial resume draft based on job seekers’ coursework and performance. The job seeker then works with one of Per Scholas’ dedicated career coaches to refine and enhance the resume so it reflects the unique characteristics of the applicant.
It now takes Per Scholas career coaches and job seekers about 30 minutes to create a resume that reflects an individual’s capabilities, experience, and education, a vast improvement from the six-hour-long process that existed before.
“By embracing AI, Per Scholas will be able to serve more job seekers, ensuring they are noticed by the employers who need them,” CKF Executive Director Ryan Stowers said. “We’re proud to call Per Scholas our partner and remain committed to highlighting how technology can help bring motivated workers together with the employers who will value them.”
