In case you missed it: Good Morning America features Make It Movement

Share

The Make it Movement (MIM) was founded by Roy Spence to motivate young people “to become great at what they are already good at.” There are plenty of opportunities for them to do so. As a Good Morning America feature about MIM noted, by 2028 there will be three million unfilled skilled trade jobs.

Spence said “young people don’t know” about these opportunities. He launched the Make It Movement in central Texas and it has helped students at Elgin High School discover their own talents and the wide array of high-skill, high-paying jobs that may correspond with them and also do not require a four-year degree. Starting with a questionnaire, one Elgin student discovered an aptitude for—and interest in—nursing. “It feels really perfect for me,” he told GMA. The Make It Movement’s questionnaire asks students about their likes, strengths, and desired incomes and provides information about occupations that closely align with that profile.

The Make It Movement soon will expand outside of Texas. GMA host Robin Roberts said it will be “so powerful at making a real difference,” in students’ lives.
