Catholic University Establishes Center for the Study of Statesmanship

The Catholic University of America this month established the Center for the Study of Statesmanship, led by professor of politics Claes G. Ryn.

The new center will look at issues of foreign relations – including military strategy, trade relations, and diplomacy – from a perspective grounded in American Constitutionalism, morality, and ethics. It will promote research, education, and discussion about the importance of statesmanship in fostering relationships with other countries.

Ryn’s unique background in both moral and political studies positions him to discuss these issues in a way that sets him apart from other foreign policy scholars.

“I am confident that under Professor Ryn’s direction, this center will help to shape the way in which American diplomacy is conceived and conducted,” said university provost Andrew V. Abela.
